Promoting your call is something that you, as the show host, must do yourself.

However, TalkShoe does provide several tools to help you promote your show via email and in many social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

Watch this video for more information on how you can use the promotion tools on TalkShoe:

There are a variety of other methods you can use to promote your call including:
  • Create a Facebook group for participants of your show to join
  • Create a Blog about your show
  • Set up a Web Site about your show
  • Set up a Dynamic Widget for your show on your self-hosted blog or web site
  • List your call series on iTunes (now known as Apple Podcasts) and other podcasting directories
  • Subscribe to the TalkShoe Premium "Featured Calls" Services to promote calls

Publishing Your Call on Podcasting Directories
In order to list your call on iTunes (known now as Apple Podcasts) and other podcasting directories, your call series must be set to a "Public" type and must have the setting "Publish Podcast" turned on in the call series setup.

You should also have written a "Description" for your show, set a show "Category", set an appropriate "Show Rating", and type some "Keywords" that the show can be searched by.

Plus your "Show Image" should be configured properly.

Settings to Configure Your Call Series for Podcast Directory Listings
1. If you are signed in to the TalkShoe website with your hosting account on the TalkShoe website, skip ahead to step 4.

Otherwise, go to (will open in a new tab).

2. Click the "Sign-In" button at the top right corner of the website.

3. Enter your user name and password, then click the white "Sign-In" button below.

4. If you are already on your TalkShoe call series page you want to check your publish podcasting settings, skip ahead to step 6; otherwise click the white "myTalkShoe" button.

On the right side of the screen,
click the title of your call series.

6. Then click the "Update" button on the call series page.

7. On the "Update Call" screen, make sure that "Type" is set to "Public"

If it is set to "Public" already, skip ahead to step 8.

If it is set to "Unlisted", click the "Public" button and then click "Update Unlisted Call".

You will be returned to the Call Series page.  Click the "Update" button again.

8. Make sure that "Publish Podcast" is checked (highlighted in the red box in the image below).

If it isn't, click the box next to "Publish Podcast" to place a check in the box.

Also, it is a good idea to have a "Description", "Category", appropriate "Rating", and "Key Words" (highlighted items inside the green box in the image below) filled in.

  •   "A": "All" Audiences
  • "PC": "Parental Control" - audiences ages 13+ years - may contain infrequent adult language
  • "EL": "Explicit Language" - audiences ages 18+ years - contains frequent adult content

Guests cannot enter "EL" rated calls. Participants must enter with a registered TalkShoe account.

The Rating is a global Call Series setting.  You cannot set a Rating for individual episodes.  However, if your Call Series has an episode that ventures into territory covered by a higher Rating, it is advisable to add a show note to explain the episode has slightly more adult content.

Then click the "Update Call" button (highlighted with the blue box in the image below).

9.  Make sure to have a proper "Show Image" (will open in a new tab), especially the correct size.

   The Show Image must be:
  • at least 1400 pixels by 1400 pixels for Apple Podcasts (formerly known as iTunes) and Stitcher
  • at least 1200 pixels by 1200 pixels for Google Play Music.
  • no larger than 256KB in file size.
  • must be a .jpg, .png, or a .gif (most podcasting sites will not accept a .gif file).

Now your call series can be submitted for approval on podcasting directories.

It is always up to the host to promote their calls.

When promoting your call, always follow the TalkShoe Terms of Service.
